Cars

Working With Cars Was Actually Okay

Work experience was way more fun than I thought it’d be. When I first heard about it, and then they said that we’d have to write 2000 words on the experience, I basically died right there. I hate writing…give me maths any day. And that’s saying something because I hate maths as well. But now that I’ve done it, I actually WANT to write something about everything that happened. That’s weird, but sure.

It was all really last-minute, but my Dad knew a guy who does this automotive delivery service around here, so I basically drove around with him for the whole week. Cars are cool, and he delivers whole cars AND just parts, so I learned some stuff. And mechanics are just, like…fun people? There’s this garage in Ringwood. Brake repair is one of the areas they specialise in. That’s just what they do. It sounds like it’d get really boring, but they seem to have a really good time. Well, in the time we were there, unloading their brake pads. Like, boxes of brake pads…they’re pretty heavy, but at least now I know that brake pads are a real thing and that cars need them. I’ve worked on the car a bit with Dad, but that never really came up, so…that’s cool. And there are a ton of mechanics in Ringwood and all the surrounding areas, so our work was never done. We just cruised around in his van, delivering car parts and stuff, except on Thursday and Friday when some people actually needed cars delivered. And that’s probably the only time I will ever sit in a Porsche. Didn’t drive it, just sat in the passenger seat for half an hour until it was delivered to a mechanic near Ringwood somewhere, and I’ll probably never see it again.

Still, sitting INSIDE a Porsche? That’s gonna give me a lot to talk about. I got to change the volume on the radio and everything. Work experience is awesome.
